Situated in south-western part of Karnataka, Chikmagalur is a small picturesque town in the foothills of Mullayanagiri range and is famous for its coffee cultivation. Chikmagalur literally means 'town of younger daughter'. It is believed that the town was presented as a dowry to the younger daughter of the chief of Sakrepatna, Rukmangada.
